I will show you how to create paintings with splashing colors on. This technique requires studio work only.
I will be providing daily, reference photos, that we will use to paint or subjects. Please do not bring your own photos.
Antonio Darden leads studio and plein air workshop for all levels artists who want to learn the art of plein air (outdoor) painting. As a studio and plein air artist, Antonio shares how to be a successful studio and plein air artist by simplifying the watercolor process into the essential elements, guiding each artist for a better understanding of the watercolor medium through live demonstrations, and creating a process at their skill level, pace, medium, and subject matter.
Antonio demonstrates how the four pillars of a good watercolor painting and an understanding of the Watercolor Consistency called “Watercolor Clock,” lead to a more truthful work of art that is full of passion. Antonio will help you develop your skills, and painting visualization, and become the confident studio and plein air artist that you want to be.
This workshop is for beginners to intermediate. The most important thing to remember for this workshop, is to have fun!
Some guidelines, No recording of the workshop, Photos when in-between washes, not during. I have always found it helpful when returning home to recall what the next step was.

Antonio Darden
Born 1965 and raised in Northern California. Antonio moved to Santa Fe New Mexico in 1995, where he began a newfound love for atmosphere, color and light. With no formal training, Antonio enrolled into Santa Fe Community College, completing the beginning art classes that were needed to enroll in and complete Color Theory and Advanced Color Theory and Design. As a
successful hair colorist and hair color educator his knowledge of color has allowed him to travel to many places around the world and throughout the USA.
Antonio is an avid plein air and Studio painter, building on the foundations of composition, value and local color and continuing to experiment and hone his personal style. Daily life drawing and plein air painting and studying from many renowned artists have elevated his technique in watercolor.
Antonio currently lives in Santa Fe, NM with his Lhasa Apso, Cree. He works in his own private art studio/gallery.
