Painting Still Life and Landscape with KB Jones – G25070103
Our online booking system is down. Please call 505.685.4881 or 505.685.1019 to register for this workshop. We apologize for the inconvenience.
This workshop is for all levels. Demonstration and instruction will be given at the beginning of each day. We will alternate between working outdoors in nature and indoors in the studio. Lectures and critiques will be offered in the evening. Students will compose paintings in the tradition of O’Keeffe, as well as female painters working after her, notably Jane Freilicher. As we consider the relationship between objects and landscape, more abstract concepts will emerge, such as perception, light, space, and color. Students will leave the course with several finished paintings.

KB Jones
KB Jones (b. Huntsville, Texas) is an artist living, working, and teaching in New York City. Her paintings were included in Plein Air, an exhibition at MOCA Tucson and The Armory Center for the Arts. Plein Air, curated by Aurora Tang, explored shifting ideas of Western landscape, fieldwork, and painting. Recent solo shows include The Land and the Fog, at Rachel Uffner Gallery in New York City and Green Lights, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Both of these exhibitions explored the relationship between mind and landscape. In 2020, Jones was awarded a residency at The Chinati Foundation, where she has since returned to lead a painting workshop. She has a BA in Philosophy and Visual Arts from Columbia University and an MFA in Painting from The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. She is excited to return to New Mexico this summer, a place that significantly shaped her artistic development.
