Join us and work on small ‘Welcome Quilts’, amidst the immense beauty of the land, along with the satisfaction of giving from your heart and your hands. We will be making small lap quilts and they will be sent to the southern US border camps. All levels of sewing/quilting experience are welcome (even those who have never sewn before). Our donation ‘Welcome Quilts’ will be made of flannel/fleece with polyester batting. They will be warm and can easily wrap around adult shoulders, cover a small child or snuggle a baby. Our hope is they provide warmth and comfort to those who receive them.

All levels of sewing/quilting experience are welcome, even those who have never sewn before. These quilts are an easy project to learn the basics of how to sew. As we share our time, talents, and quilt together, there will be plenty of learning, chatter, giggles and laughter as new friendships are built and old ones renewed.

Howdy All, I am Rogene E Ashford, “Ronnie” for short. I hail from Tulsa, Oklahoma nowadays. My birthplace and growing up years were in Wichita, Kansas. I grew up in a strong Catholic Family with 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Both my parents were hard working, loving, practical and creative. Growing up, I was often told I was ‘too creative’ for my own good. I once took charcoal and drew a large landscape on a newly painted garage.
My educational background is a minor in arts and a masters in Counseling Psychology and I have worked in the counseling field for 34 years. I have taught as an adjunct professor in the Psychology department at Southern Nazarene University for 20 years.
I guide 4 -6 Women’s Quilt Retreats a year and do “Creative Presentations” for local guilds.

I have worked in many mediums throughout my life, oils, acrylics, gardening, sculpting and writing, but I always go back to the fiber arts. I am a Creative Artist that uses fabrics and the sewing machine as my medium. My studio is a large upstairs room with 10 windows that is stuffed full of inspirational fabrics, notions, beads, baubles, inspirational images and “Good Stuff”. I affectionally call it “The Clubhouse”. It is a happy place and I am looking forward to retiring in 2025 and spending many days playing in the Clubhouse.
