Because much of our nation’s political and religious expression is antithetical to the teachings of Jesus, now is an ideal time to seek anew the core meaning of our Christian Faith. The prayer that Jesus taught (Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 11:2-4) illumines the very heart of what he calls on his followers to believe and do. In condensed language, this prayer sums up the essence of Jesus’ life and teaching, and it proclaims a revolutionary order for life on earth: God’s realm of love, peace, and justice.
Please consider joining us in the stunning beauty of Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, for a weekend retreat centered on the Lord’s Prayer. We will seek to open the power of Jesus’ prayer by delving deeply into each petition, and by considering interpretations both ancient and contemporary. We will gather as a community of seekers to hear, more profoundly than ever, this prayer as good news and an urgent call. The only attendance requirement is that participants come with an open mind asking, with Jesus’ first disciples: “Lord, teach us to pray.”
